Cadair Idris — the Chair of Idris — rises to 893m above sea level and is one of the most dramatic mountains in Wales. Legend has it that anyone who sleeps on its summit will wake either a poet or a madman. The Minffordd Path is the finest route, climbing through ancient oak woodland into a glacial cwm before the final ridge to the summit. On a clear day the views stretch across Cardigan Bay to the Llŷn Peninsula and beyond. About 20 minutes drive from Tywyn.
