Heritage Railway

5 min walk from your cottage

The Talyllyn Railway is one of Wales's greatest treasures — the world's first preserved railway, originally opened in 1865 to carry slate from the Bryn Eglwys quarry. Today, lovingly maintained steam locomotives haul passengers on a 7¼ mile journey through the beautiful Fathew Valley, ending at Nant Gwernol in the foothills of Cadair Idris. The Narrow Gauge Railway Museum at Tywyn Wharf is also well worth visiting. The station is just a five minute walk from the cottages.
