Fairbourne Beach stretches for around 3 miles along the Mawddach Estuary, opposite Barmouth, with the mountains of Eryri rising behind. The beach is a mix of sand and pebble, sloping gently into the sea, making it a good choice for families with younger children. It pairs perfectly with a ride on the miniature Fairbourne Railway, which runs right alongside. Dogs are welcome on the beach year-round, though there are seasonal restrictions on the central section from April to September — check the signage on arrival. Parking is available with a small charge.
